Supporting statement: I ask the West Wales IOSH membership to vote for me and support my candidacy to become Chair of the West Wales IOSH Branch. A founder member of the West Wales IOSH branch, member of the Swansea & West Wales Safety Group. I would be so glad to be even more committed, as I am a strong believer of IOSH’s role. I am currently Chair of Community Housing Cymru Fire Strategy Group covering all housing Associations across Wales, member of the National Social Housing Fire Safety Group and have wide experience on other working groups. During my current term as Branch Member, I have actively been involved in a number of events with the Group working with others across West Wales on The Pembrokeshire Employers Engagement Project (PEEP) being just one of these events. To achieve this scope, a constant focus on professional development and on linking with other trade organisations is needed. I would like to continue the work promoting training initiatives with others. Furthermore, I believe it is important to build relationships with groups across the UK, to promote and exchange ideas and initiatives.

Supporting statement: I have been an IOSH member since 2003 and I have always been actively involved in District and Branch affairs. I am currently Chair of the West Wales Branch and will be relinquishing my position at the Branch AGM on 20th March 2019. Therefore, I would like to help in continuing with the good work and aims and objectives that the Branch and Committee Members have achieved over the past years, as I believe that I possess the qualities, enthusiasm, and drive to move the Branch forward on its journey of improvement.

Supporting statement: Over the years I have been a self-employed plastering contractor, Personnel and H and S Manager for a clothing manufacturer and for the last 17 years Health and Safety Advisor for Ceredigion County Council. I provide advice and assistance on the management of health and safety to all the Services within the Council. My specialities are in Asbestos Management, P402, P405 & P407, Work at height including the installation and testing of fall arrest and prevention eye bolts, secure ladder systems, easy deck access equipment trainer and manual handling trainer in both people handling and objects. I also provide training and advice to all members of staff and contractors on a variety of health and safety topics. Having the variety of knowledge, skills and experience I have, this will no doubt benefit the committee and assist our members. I have been an active member for 10 years and have been attending the West Wales District committee for 7 years now and would therefore like to continue to support the branch in this manner. I have been covering the position of Branch Secretary for the last 8 months or so and therefore I would like to continue in this roll.
Name: Niall Yeomans

Supporting statement: I currently fulfil a role that requires me to oversee and implement safe effective, practical and consistent procedures to an environment that employs seven hundred staff on a complex site covering industry, from food and beverage, leisure and facilities management, maintenance and waste water treatment plant operations. I am responsible for the safety and security of over one hundred and fifty thousand guests per year. I am an approved IOSH trainer and deliver both working and managing safely courses regularly. The IOSH brand and reputation is recognised and respected in our industry. The chance to develop my career with likeminded people, offer my experience and draw on others experience and advise will develop my career. More importantly it will allow me to develop and influence safety practice to keep people in the work place safe and informed influencing a safety culture. Being a member of the committee will allow me to stay in touch further with current areas of safety focus overcome challenges faced by all, consistently, reaching out to my IOSH colleagues across the region and further.
