Welcome to IOSH in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Branch

History of the branch

The IOSH UAE branch was formally the Middle East branch, back in the days when we had no representation in the region, a small group of our members decided to establish a platform where those with a common interest could meet and discuss new developments and share best practice.

Since then, we have branched out, forming branches in Qatar and Oman, the UAE branch currently has more than 1,700 active safety professionals registered with us, with the focus still being on people sharing a common interest. We meet on a monthly basis to network, whilst sharing health and safety knowledge and information from a number of different industries.

The branch

The UAE Branch remains focused on achieving the aims and objectives of IOSH, including the commitment to the Work 2022 strategy (Shaping the future of safety and health), being locally dedicated with international scale. This year, adopting the three core pillars of the Work 2022 strategy, collaboration, influence and enhance, we have set ourselves some challenging targets to provide our members the best opportunities to further develop themselves as professionals, by providing additional support for CPD / IPD and developing a more robust framework to achieve Chartered status.

We are looking at the events we provide our members and not only building best practice sharing into these events, but also important skills practitioners need to further develop themselves such as presentation skills, leadership skills and other soft skills which will enable them to stand out from their peers.

The branch remains committed to continue building strong relationships with both public and private sector organisations, by working with them to achieve a common goal, by establishing working groups to share best practice and influence our industry in various sectors.

The UAE branch is one of the most active branches in IOSH, which is down to the continuing commitment of both our members and the committee that those members have voted in to deliver on our aims. If you would like to be a part of this branch whether you are a member or non-member, you can download our 2019 branch programme and book onto any one of our meetings.

I look forward to seeing you all at our meetings throughout 2019 and remain excited about working with all of you to achieve the objectives of our branch going forward.

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn for branch event and news updates.
