On behalf of our Committee, I would like to thank Geoff Price, Past Chair, South Cumbria and North Lancashire District, for all the hard work that he undertook to convince the IOSH Networks Committee that our district merited being upgraded to branch status. I would also like to thank the Manchester & NW Districts' Branch Committee for their support in this quest and for agreeing that our branches will continue to collaborate with one another in the future.
We will continue our long-standing collaboration with South Cumbria Occupational Health and Safety Group (SCOHSG). With their help we have organised a joint 2018 annual programme, at the Netherwood Hotel, Grange-over-Sands, that is relevant to health and safety professionals as well as to business managers.
Our aim is to provide a welcoming environment for safety practitioners and business representatives to discuss and to share good and best practices to help keep everyone safe and healthy. We believe that networking opportunities at our meetings is an effective way of keeping abreast of innovative workplace safety management ideas and advice.
We also aim to provide at least one annual CPD workshop as well as opportunities for receiving individual professional development advice before or after our monthly meetings.
We welcome visitors but appreciate that it is the loyalty of members who support our meetings on a regular basis on whom the success of our branch depends.
One of the strengths of our district was to ensure that members had opportunities to suggest and vote for topics that they would like to see included in our annual programmes. We plan to continue this policy, so, if you have any requests for our next year's programme, we will do our best to find appropriate speakers! This years programme is, as always, based on your feedback.
We hope that you will continue to support us during our first year as a branch.
Chairman, South Cumbria and North Lancashire IOSH Branch.
