I have published articles in the field of Health and Safety one of which was presented at the IChemE Hazards XXI Conference as well as the AIChE Safety Symposium in the USA.

Name: Carol Riley
Committee Role: Communications Coordinator
Supporting statement: I worked for over 20 years in finance and at one point was responsible for a ledger of 10 million pounds a month turnover whilst managing a team of 16 staff. Due to a company takeover in 2007 I decided I would like a change and made the switch to workplace solutions. I now work as a Health and Safety Consultant offering a range of consultancy and training services to businesses. I am proud to be a committee member of East Lancashire IOSH District and meet with them at least once a month. This not only is a great networking opportunity but a chance to learn from others in the group as well as from the fabulous array of guest speakers that attend each meeting. In 2018 I have stepped up to take the post of Communications Co-ordinator for the East Lancashire District as I wanted to give even more to the group. I also enjoy being able to 'spread the word' about our meetings as much as possible. It is a shame that health and safety is often considered as boring or a barrier to business growth and creativity as I for one can say it is far from boring as a career and done well it is a fantastic benefit to a business in terms of corporate image, productivity, staff morale, cost savings, in fact the list goes on.
