The following nominees are eligible for election to the Branch committee.

Name: James Dean
Committee Role: Treasurer
Supporting statement: I have been the Treasurer for North Staffs & South Cheshire District for a number of years and the Treasurer for Manchester Branch for the last two years. Previously I have been the Treasurer for another charity and have therefore had a number of years of experience in fulfilling the role.

Name: Chris Knagg
Committee Role: Chair
Supporting statement: Continued support of Manchester Branch & Northwest Districts.

Name: Melissa Fazackerley
Committee Role: Vice Chair and Communications Coordinator
Supporting statement: I would be right for this role because I am currently an active member of the branch, I understand how the branch works and am able to dedicate time into the role to enhance the branch for the committee and more importantly the members. I am very passionate about getting members involved in the branch meetings and giving us a voice to be able to make the most of our membership. I enjoy the networking with our members and giving others the opportunity to do the same and to learn more and share knowledge. Collaboration with other groups is very important to ensure our members (and other branch groups) achieve the best outcome. Social media is a main resource for most people in today’s world and utilising it on behalf of the group is an absolute joy, it means we get to keep our members up to date on platforms and timescales that suit them and it gives our members an opportunity to speak up about what they like and where we can improve as a branch. The time I am able to dedicate means I am able to interact with our members often and help the committee plan our diary in advance to ensure we have quality speakers and topics that are of interest. The aim is to get more and more members coming to the branch meetings to achieve a network that means people feel supported and comfortable enough to seek and provide advice and support to other like-minded members.

I currently volunteer as both a panel member and chair on the IOSH Chartered Peer Review Interviews. I am also a registered mentor for the IPD process and am always available to assist other members working towards Chartered status.

Name: Stuart Bailey
Committee Role: Secretary
Supporting statement: I've been Branch Secretary for the branch since May 2016. I am a consistent attendee at branch meetings and have attended every meeting since joining IOSH in 2013. I enjoy working with the committee in providing informative presentations to branch members and love helping members with their CPD queries. I would like the opportunity to continue the work the committee has started and to see this into 2020.

Name: Zoe Wu
Committee Role: Communications Coordinator
Supporting statement: I am passionate about health and safety and fully support IOSH's Work 2022 strategy. I have participated in the branch meetings and fully appreciate the opportunities it offered for me to meet people with similar minds and exploring different ways to practice health and safety. The value of branch meetings are irreplaceable for me as a member, however I wasn't aware of its presence until only very recently. I am keen to help build the brand up more and reach out to more people via social media and other resources. I am familiar with all major social platforms and I am aware of communication techniques used to draw an audience.

Name: Lee Rigby
Committee Role: Committee Member
Supporting statement: I feel that I would be right for the role of Branch Committee member as a result of my passion for health and safety and the experience and knowledge that I've gained in many different industries including construction, health care, retail, oil and gas and the railways whilst undertaking a full time role as a health and safety practitioner.

Name: John Brown
Committee Role: Committee Member
Supporting statement: Firstly, I feel very proud to be an active member of IOSH, who lead the way in this profession helping to save lives and shaping the well-being of the world. I have been an active member of our Manchester North West District Branch for approximately 12 years and feel very much part of the team. It would be an honour to be granted the opportunity to lead, promote, and support this very hard-working team. I feel I have the necessary skill set, experience and dedication to influence existing members, whilst assisting in the growth, understanding and development of new members joining IOSH for the first time. I have a drive to succeed, and to influence people in the same way, thereby having a positive impact on the organisation's reputation. I am self-motivated and dedicated with a big heart. My ethos is to encourage collaboration and to build strategies between colleagues and other professionals. I have the capability to offer support and guidance where required, whether supporting the Chair, Vice Chair or other committee members in their roles and responsibilities. Should I be successful in attaining a role within the Committee I can confirm I would give my all to assist IOSH in maintaining and promoting the services it offers.

Name: Alex Hudson
Committee Role: Committee Member
Supporting statement: I am a regulatory solicitor with Pinsent Masons in Manchester specialising in health and safety law. Our firm has a well-established relationship with IOSH and the Manchester Branch in particular. Kevin Bridges, who heads the Health & Safety team, is a former Vice-President of IOSH. I am a keen public speaker and have delivered legal update sessions for the Manchester branch, at the IOSH Rail Conference and I have supported mock trial events with the North Staffs and South Cheshire District. Pinsent Masons is committed to continuing to support its local branches of IOSH in Manchester and around the UK to help empower professionals and businesses. As a committee member I would strive to help enhance the competence, capabilities and skills of our branch's members by bringing a distinctly analytical and thorough approach. In my role I have to keep up-to-date with frequent regulatory changes and the constant development of what is reasonably practicable in the workplace. I hope to bring my own knowledge to the committee but also to learn from others about the practical challenges their businesses overcome in order to succeed. I have been recognised in the Legal 500 as "clever and one to watch for the future", "conscientious" and "shows good judgement regarding technical points of difficulty". I have experience assisting clients in responding to a broad range of high pressure incidents or regulatory issues, and I would feel comfortable supporting the committee in any capacity that I can. Health, in and out of the workplace, is a central passion of mine. I am an Ironman triathlete and an active member of Pinsent Masons' community investment programme, organising local sporting events in the North West. I look forward to collaborating with likeminded professionals to develop a shared vision for the future of health and safety.
