Branch AGM nominees

The following nominees are eligible for election to the Branch committee.

Name: Brett Sinclair
Committee Role: Committee Member
Supporting statement: I am committed to improving the health and safety of everyone that I come across in my career and I feel that volunteering with the branch would improve my knowledge base and understanding of other aspects of health and safety that I am not experienced in. I am highly motivated individual with strong organisational skills and I believe I would be able to assist the committee in any role assigned to myself.

Name: Elizabeth Young
Committee Role: Committee Member
Supporting statement: I have a mentoring qualification (from the Open University sponsored by IOSH) I am Current IOSH Mentor linked to IOSH Edinburgh Branch and a member of the Branch Executive, and as a mentor and have carried out IPD and CPD workshops for the members I also have sat on the IOSH peer review panels. I have been a former lecturer on the NEBOSH Certificate and open learning tutor for the NEBOSH Diploma and currently I am also a qualified assessor and Internal verifier for NVQ Level 5 OHS. I am also a member of the Scottish Chamber of Safety and Fire Prevention Association, all this has allowed me to network and build up many good working relationships with a diverse range of health and safety groups and collectively I feel all my knowledge is useful to be able to mentor and give advice on competency and The membership routes within IOSH.

Name: Simon Heesom
Committee Role: Chair
Supporting statement: I have served as the Branch Secretary for the past two years and have developed a good understanding of how the Branch works, including our interactions with Head Office. Also as the Secretary I have been attending the IOSH Scotland meetings for the development of liaisons and synergies between all of the other Scottish Branches for the betterment of the Institution as a whole. As such I feel that I would be ideally placed to become the next Branch Chair.

Supporting statement: I have provided support for IOSH members since joining in 1989, undertaking CPD activity to develop my understanding. As a member of Council I am ideally placed to keep the Edinburgh Branch up to date with developments and act as a conduit for mentoring related issues between Branch and our networks officer.
